Just days after dropping their first album in 18 years – the critically acclaimed We got it from Here…Thank You 4 Your Service – the remaining members along with the late great Phife Dawg of revered hip hop super group A Tribe Called Quest have unveiled the music video for their single “We the People…”
Taken from the group’s 16-track album released earlier this month, the track and video act as testaments to the group’s response towards recent social and political scenarios that face the country, and is quite obviously a song about carrying on the fight.
Filmed in the group’s beloved hometown of New York, the video paints a vivid picture of the streets and the various elements that are plaguing society today– police brutality, mass incarceration, racism and sexism among others. The video also depicts fellow rapper Busta Rhymes joining Tribe’s Q-Tip and Jarobi White as they initiate a massive protest in the streets of NYC.
