Cherry Glazzer have concocted their own irresistible mix of attitude and garage-born guitar haze, since the super young Los Angeles trio began to make waves back in 2014. Clementine Creevy's raw, often witty point of view comes through fast on their completely self-realized, noise rock tracks.
They're sound is weird, loud, and fuckin' feisty, exactly what we like. Cherry Glazerr's last full-length offering was 2014's Haxel Princess, which arrived through well-known underground label Burger Records. Now they’ve just put out a new tune and video titled "Told You I'd Be With The Guys," marking their transition from Burger to the just as infamous, Secretly Canadian. It’s a tune to remind all the ladies who would rather hang out with dudes that they need to be united with their fellow females if they want to overcome all the sexist pressures of society.
A press release explains that lead singer Creevy wrote the tune after a realization that she needs to "consciously strive for solidarity with other women in order to combat the sexism that is ingrained in our culture and consequentially within herself." Above a coolly paced drum clap and Rickenbacker fuzz leads, she sings, "Where are my ladies? / I guess that was my fault."
The Riley Blakeway-directed video finds band members being steadily enveloped in cars and kitchens by a gang of dudes in crimson golf shirts and fresh-pressed khakis.
