Skateboarding came from surfing. Kids took to the streets on wooden boards with wheels in order emulate the carving and coasting they did atop a surfboard and wave. So it only makes sense that sometimes skateboarding involves a little bit of surfing, which is exactly the point of badass Elissa Steamer's new brand out of San Francisco called Gnarhunters, which blends skate and surf culture.
It's no wonder the Gnarhunters team is stacked with everyone from Andrew Reynolds, Max Schaaf, Arto Saari, and Sara Taylor, to Nat Russell, Rick Howard, Vanessa Torres and many more. I mean who would say no to Elissa Steamer? As of now the "lifestyle" brand is slinging towels, surf leashes, and beanies via its website, and has put quite a few different shirt designs and a handful of collaborative towel designs with the likes of Toy Machine and Barry McGee over the past year or so.
Seems like the brand is skateboarding's gift to surfing, incorporating imagery, athletes, and the same free spirit that both surfers and skaters emulate on the daily. They've also been releasing short, but quite hilarious videos to promote their products, including the one below with Nat Russell.
